Smoothies and green juices are a delicious and nutritious way to start your day, and having a dedicated smoothie station can make your morning routine easier and more enjoyable. Here are some tips for creating your own smoothie and juicing corner.
Smoothie and Juicing Corner
Choose a convenient location. Ideally, you want to have your smoothie and juicing station near a power outlet, a water source, and a fridge. This will save you time and hassle when preparing your smoothies or green juices. You also want to have enough counter space and storage space for your blender and other ingredients.
Juicers and Blenders for Making Smoothies and Juicing
Invest in a good blender and juicer. A blender is the most important tool for making smoothies, so you want to get one that is powerful, durable, and easy to clean. I love my Vitamix.
You don’t have to spend a fortune on a high-end blender or juicer, but you do want one that can handle ice, frozen fruits, nuts, seeds, and greens without leaving chunks or lumps.
Some other popular brands of blenders are Blendtec, Ninja, and NutriBullet. I love my Breville Compact Juice Fountain for green juicing.
Organize Your Smoothie and Juice Ingredients
To make your smoothie station more efficient and appealing organize your ingredients in a way that makes sense for you.
You can use glass jars, plastic containers, baskets, bins, or drawers to store your ingredients according to their type, flavor, or frequency of use. For example, you can have separate jars for nuts, seeds, protein powders, superfoods, sweeteners, and spices.
Stock up on fresh and frozen fruits and vegetables. Fruits and vegetables are the main components of smoothies, so you want to have a variety of them on hand. You can buy fresh produce and freeze them yourself, or you can buy pre-packaged frozen fruits and vegetables from the store. Frozen produce is convenient because it lasts longer and adds thickness and creaminess to your smoothies.
Some of the best fruits and vegetables for smoothies are bananas, berries, mangoes, pineapples, peaches, spinach, kale, carrots, celery, cucumber, and avocado. For juicing, anything creamy like avocados, mangoes or papayas don’t work in a juicer but are perfect for blending.
For juicing, leafy greens like romaine lettuce, lacinto kale (minus the bitter stems), cucumber, apple, lime or lemon, broccoli, cilantro make absolutely delicious green juices. So good in fact, they’re incredibly addictive!
Mixing Vegetables and Fruits for Smoothies and Juices
Experiment with different recipes and flavors. One of the best things about smoothies is that you can customize them to suit your taste buds and nutritional needs. Mix and match different fruits, vegetables, liquids, nuts, seeds, powders, and other add-ins to create endless combinations of flavors and textures.
